The vineyards of Villa S. Anna are a part of extensive land possessions that have been in the Contini - Ruggeri family for over 200 hundred years. The vineyards are located on the prestigious wine –growing hills that surround Montepulciano, a town with a reputation for producing some of the finest of the Tuscan red wines. Like many landowning Tuscan families with quality vineyards, winemaking was one of the many agricultural activities carried out one these huge estate. Simona Fabroni Ruggeri was the first member of the family to concentrate exclusively on wine producing and began a series of investments to increase the importance and diversity of her vineyards. Simona with the encouragement and invaluable filial collaboration had created a formidable team with her daughters Anna and Margherita. They have been working together, with love and experience, for the past twenty years with one goal in mind: producing the best red wine from a region where the finest quality of grapes enjoy an international recognition of quality are grown. This guiding thought is behind all their investments which included planting new vineyards at a high density of plants per hectare, replacing barrels and barriques at the appropriate time, and taking scrupulous care of the centuries-old underground cellars where all the wines are aged at natural temperatures. From grape selection that occurs in the vineyards the result are the Chianti Colli Senesi DOCG; with the aim to satisfy the connoisseur there is thepleasant Rosso di Montepulciano and with the objective of being the standard for high quality wine fromthe Montepulciano area there is the elegant Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Nevertheless, the pride of the house is the Nobile di Montepulciano "Poldo" produced from the scrupulous selection of thegrapes only those years considered of exceptional quality.
