Non-Profit - Richmond, VA, US
We are the Richmond chapter of the Virginia Tech Alumni Association located in Richmond, VA. Our geographic region is the Richmond metropolitan area including the counties of Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico, Goochland, Powhatan, New Kent, and Charles City. All of our members who live in our geographic region are fellow Virginia Tech alumni, and some volunteer as alumni chapter officers or committee chairmen. We are the second largest Virginia Tech alumni chapter in the world with approximately 14,000 members. We meet on a monthly basis, unless otherwise announced, to discuss local alumni chapter and university-related business as well as organize socials, events, and community service projects. Our socials, events, and community service projects are always loads of fun and a great way to meet, socialize, and network with other Hokies from the Richmond area. Our chapter's primary purposes are to promote the university to prospective students; organize and host fund raising events for financial need-based academic scholarships that we award to Virginia Tech students from the Richmond area; support the university's legislative concerns and needs; support the university's academic and administrative endeavors; and volunteer with community service projects such as blood drives, Habitat for Humanity, Hokies vs. ‘Hoos Food Fight, etc. We strive to uphold our alma mater's motto: "Ut Prosim" (That I may serve).
