WalkFree.org was launched in 2012 as a global community with a shared vision of a world free from modern slavery. Australian business leaders and philanthropists Andrew and Nicola Forrest founded WalkFree.org with their daughter Grace, after her volunteer work in Nepal exposed them to the reality of modern slavery.WalkFree.org began under the auspices of the Walk Free Foundation, which also includes the Global Slavery Index, Global Freedom Network, Global Fund to End Slavery and is a founding funder of the Freedom Fund.In four short years, WalkFree.org has grown to a global community of over 8 million people who have driven 29 campaign wins and held over 200 offline events. Partnerships have been formed with almost 50 likeminded organisations and 7,000 freedom leaders have been mobilised to take action offline, drive support online and provide their expertise to the global community. With the achievement of its initial mission to mobilise a global community, WalkFree.org is now moving on to its next challenge. In 2016, the leadership of the movement was handed over to U.S.-based Audacity Factory, an accelerator and collaborative focused on ending modern slavery. Through initiatives like EndCrowd, a platform to leverage crowdfunding to promote anti-slavery campaigns, Audacity Factory has successfully partnered with some of the world's top anti-slavery organisations. By combining the reach of WalkFree.org's community of millions with Audacity Factory's advocacy and community activation expertise, the movement is prepared to make an even greater global impact than ever.
