WinterKids helps children develop healthy lifelong habits through fun, outdoor winter activity.WinterKids is the only nonprofit in Maine dedicated exclusively to increasing physical activity in children during our longest, most sedentary season. The shorter, darker, and colder days of winter—not to mention the increasing allure of smart phones, iPads, and Facebook—make it all too easy for Maine kids and families to "hibernate" and complacently view inactivity as an acceptable option.At WinterKids, we make it our business to provide families, schools, and communities with the *right* option: to get outside, get active, and have FUN! Our statewide programs & events offer special opportunities for all kids—regardless of background or socioeconomic status—to be active and healthy during the winter. We strive to build a healthier generation of children—a generation that truly understands the importance of staying active and fit in every season.
