International Affairs - San Jose, California, United States
The Women's Human Rights Institute provides training in the use of international human rights instruments for advocacy, movement-building, and holding governments to account. We have supported and inspired to women's human rights defenders from around the globe. Our graduates are some of the most effective feminist leaders in women's international human rights work the world over. We are particular experts in the United Nations Convention to End All forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), and related Special Procedures, such as the UN Committee to End Discrimination Against Women and GIrls, of which our founder, Costa Rican Jurist Alda Facio, was Chair and a long-time member. Our "CEDAW for Change" Institutes have assisted hundreds of advocates and government leads from Africa, Latin America, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, Canada and more.
