YEP (Youth, Entrepreneurship, Programming) for Kids (Y4K) is a 501-(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to providing students with after school coding classes. Started by high school students who enjoy computer science, Y4K aims to make computer science education available to elementary and middle school students through their peer-to-peer education model. The organization starts clubs at high schools with computer science programs so that they can serve surrounding elementary schools. The creators of YEP strongly believe that kids should learn to code as they did – by actually writing real code. To fulfill this goal, the organization has setup a robust curriculum with the Python programming language. With a combination of sessions, virtual classrooms, student packages, and videos, Y4K is providing students with an immersive educational experience that allows them to grasp the fundamentals of computer science and problem solving.
