The Biomass Group is a vertically integrated renewable energy company that develops biomass resources for local industry and will develop pellets for export and power for the national grid in Sri Lanka. The production of biomass fuel — from Gliricidia trees — complements and enhances food production. We are the only ethical biomass supply business at scale in the world, that is not buying and clearing forests, affecting indigenous people or mono cultivating energy crop.Sri Lanka was chosen to demonstrate the business model, by leveraging the country's abundant biomass resources. This is an agro-energy program that combines Sustainable Fuel + Food + Livelihood Development. There are 500 million smallholder farmers in the world today, many of whom have meager incomes and live in the tropics.
