Welcome to the page for the 7th Judicial District of Kansas, the District Court of Douglas County. The District Court is divided into eight divisions. District judges preside over Divisions 1 through 6, and two pro tem judges presides over the Pro Tem Division. Cases are assigned as follows:Division 1 – Judge Amy J Hanley: criminal; and protection from abuse/stalkingDivision 2 – Judge Sally D Pokorny: criminal; family law; care and treatment; and protection from abuse/stalkingDivision 3 – Judge Barbara K Huff: criminal; major civil; and protection from abuse/stalkingDivision 4 – Chief Judge James R McCabria: criminal; probate; liens; major civil; and protection from abuse/stalkingDivision 5 – Judge Mark A Simpson: family law; major and limited civil; care and treatment; and protection from abuse/stalkingDivision 6 – Stacey L Donovan: criminal; major and limited civil; child in need of care; and protection from abuse/stalkingPro Tem Division – Judge James T George: criminal first appearances; misdemeanor criminal; traffic; and small claimsPro Tem Juvenile Division - Judge Paul R Klepper: juvenile offender; child in need of care; child support modifications; and limited actionsThe court administrator supervises and coordinates the administrative functions and operations of the district court, supervises and directs the activities of non-judicial employees of the court and performs other duties that are designated by the chief judge, required by law or by the state Judicial Administrator.The Clerk of the Court is the official custodian of all court records. The office issues processes including summons, subpoenas and warrants, as well as post-judgment process enforcing court mandates. The clerk is also responsible for jury management and acting as the treasurer for the Michael J Malone Douglas County Law Library.
