PROFILEThe Ghana Tourism Development Company Limited (GTDC) is the Investment wing of the Ministry Of Tourism, Arts and Culture of Ghana.The company was established to lead in tourism investments and infrastructure developments in the sector. It was set up in 1972 as a limited liability company to encourage tourism development in Ghana.Legal Status-IncorporationGhana Tourism Development Company Limited was established as a Private Limited Liability Company in the year 1972 under the Company's Code 1963 (Act 179). The Company was issued with Certificate of Incorporation No. 5937 on 24th November, 1972 and Certificate to Commence Business on 27th November, 1972.Vision To become an effective minority shareholding leading edge catalytic confidence-building partner in attracting both foreign and local investments in the profitable developments of sustainable quality tourism in Ghana.MissionGTDC exists to provide a congenial and viable investment environment accessible to both foreign and local / development funds. Such an environment should foster the establishment of commercially successful path-finding tourism investments in the various tourism categories at each stage of the tourism system, to demonstrate the attractiveness of such investments to private capital funds. This mission will be achieved through:Ensuring that sound business principles are applied to and form the basis of all investment decisions.Creatively devising a system and developing a network that brings together investors, potential ventures, finance and technical expertise for the successful implementation of projects.Ensuring that relevant and maximum competencies are installed in the management and marketing of identified ventures to ensure commercial success.Core Functions of the CompanyGTDC is authorized by Ghana Companies code, Act 179 to serve the following functions:To promote and mobilize resources for investment in tourist development and services.To seek equity participation in joint ventures with Ghanaians as well as foreign concerns and individuals in tourist development projects.To provide financial and technical assistance for small businesses in the tourism industry and improve the efficiency and level of their services.To carry on any other business which may conveniently render profitable the operations of the Company or enhance the Property values or rights of the Company.
