Sound Rivers is the result of the merger of the Neuse Riverkeeper Foundation and the Pamlico-Tar River Foundation in April 2015. As a non-profit organization, we unite North Carolina citizens to protect, restore and preserve the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico watersheds that constitute 22% of the state's land area so clean water is available to our communities for consumption, recreation, nature preservation and agricultural use.Sound Rivers employees three Riverkeepers. The Pamlico-Tar Riverkeeper is located in Washington, and all three collaborate with the public to fight for clean water throughout the region.
