Sound Rivers is the result of the merger of the Neuse Riverkeeper Foundation and the Pamlico-Tar River Foundation in April 2015. As a non-profit organization, we unite North Carolina citizens to protect, restore and preserve the Neuse and Tar-Pamlico watersheds that constitute 22% of the state's land area so clean water is available to our communities for consumption, recreation, nature preservation and agricultural use.Sound Rivers employees three Riverkeepers. The Upper Neuse Riverkeeper is based in Raleigh and the Lower Neuse Riverkeeper is in New Bern. The Pamlico-Tar Riverkeeper is located in Washington, and all three collaborate with the public to fight for clean water throughout the region.
