MISSION Founded and funded by the Shanghai Education Commission, Minhang District and Qibao Town, Shanghai Qibao Dwight High School is an experiment in implementing East-West cooperative education at the high school level. The mission of Qibao Dwight is to be a model of Sino-U.S. cooperation through the implementation of international curriculum that combines Chinese and Western features. Qibao High School (Shanghai) and Dwight School (New York) were given the opportunity to come together in pursuit of a learning environment that would fit the changing landscape of Chinese education and serve as a laboratory for the cultivation of internationally-minded students who will be innovators in society. With a joint Qibao High School and Dwight School governing board and rigorous standards across the school upheld by oversight from both schools, we take our role in the ever-evolving landscape of Chinese National education seriously and are deeply committed to what we do. Through our student prefect system, a large number of activities such as yearbook, singing competitions, Chinese folk music troupe, student librarians, Chinese visual arts, robotics, debate, QDiscovery, rock-climbing, service learning with Teach for China, and our PAC-12 spon-sored Qibao Dwight Business Case Competition are implemented. Students are free to create their own clubs based on interests.ELECTIVES: As stated in "Zuozhuan": "People, born of five elements are to utilize all of them and waste none." Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, Earth and Wind, are the six elements the school adopted while establishing the House system, and they are extended to the elective course system. Electives are categorized accordingly: Metal/Compe-titions, Wood/Natural Sciences, Water/Individuals and Society, Fire/Arts, Earth/Humanities and Social Sciences and Wind/Athletics and Fitness. Students are expected to take an elective from each category in their three years at Qibao Dwight.
