It has headquarters in Dodoma, Central Tanzania, with offices in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma. Enforces Competition and Consumer Protection provisions vide the Fair Competition Act (No 8 of 2003) and Anti-Counterfeit enforcements vide the Merchandise Marks Act (1963). On Competition FCC handles Mergers and Acquisitions, Exemptions to mergers and agreements, control of anti-competitive agreements, abuse of market power and all forms of restrictive trade practices. It has quasi judicial powers and its decisions are appealable at the Fair Competition Tribunal
