Founded in 1887, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU) is a public, historically Black university that is part of the State University System of Florida. U.S. News & World Report lists FAMU as the No.1 public HBCU in the nation and Forbes Magazine ranks the University as one of "America's Top Colleges." The Princeton Review named FAMU among its " Best Colleges: Region-by-Region" list. Latino Leaders Magazine named FAMU among the "Best Colleges and Universities for Latinos," and SmartAsset, a New York-based financial technology company, ranked FAMU the No. 2 "Best Value College" in Florida.The University has graduated more than 75,000 alumni and enrolls nearly 10,000 students hailing from across the United States and more than 70 countries.
