Established in 1970, the Aga Khan Academy, Nairobi is a private, co-educational school situated in pleasant surroundings in the Parklands suburb of Nairobi. The Aga Khan Academy is one of the leading schools in Kenya offering the International Baccalaureate curriculum (IB), and authorized to offer the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP) and the Diploma Programme (DP). With over 1000 students, it is a multi-cultural school with many nationalities and cultures represented at any given time. The Academy strives to create a harmonious balance between academic demands, sporting and cultural activities and community life. Our students learn to be knowledgeable, open-minded thinkers, inquirers, principled, risk-takers, well-balanced, and caring. They are prepared for life. The School is a community of life-long learners of students, teachers and parents with the goal of developing an ethical, pluralistic global community with a social conscience. It develops homegrown leaders with ethical foundations based on spirituality, and desire and ability to create positive change in the world. The three schools of the Aga Khan Academy Nairobi work together to develop the IB learner profile beginning with an inquiry-based approach in the Early Years Primary Years Programme (PYP) at The Nursery School, followed by the Primary Years Programme (PYP) at the Junior School for grades 1-6. Students continue in the Senior School, enrolling in the Middle Years Programme of studies (MYP) for grades 7-11. The Senior School blends the syllabus of the Cambridge IGCSE in grades 10 and 11 to enable students to obtain the IGCSE certificate. Upon completion of the IGCSE programme, students enter the Diploma Programme (DP) for their final two years of study in the Senior School.
