The school's nationally recognized model of education and patient care includes eight commmunity service learning centers in rural North Carolina communities from the mountains to the coast. There, fourth-year students work alongside faculty and residents to provide care for patients from under-resourced counties and towns nearby. So far, the school has reached more than 75,000 patients from all 100 North Carolina counties.
