Nonprofit Organization Management - Roodepoort, Gauteng, South Africa
We are Africa Rights Rising, an organisation started in March 2017 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our organization is united by three fundamental beliefs:The Universal Declaration of Human Rights guarantees every human being specific unalienable rights.African countries tend to have an inexcusable disregard for these rights. It is the potential and the responsibility of African youth to bridge the gap between these two realities. After witnessing the gross abuse of human rights in our respective countries, we dedicated our efforts to bringing attention to human rights abuses on the African continent. To pursue these beliefs, we focus on two primary branches of development: raising awareness and educating the youth. We believe many human rights abuses on the African continent are committed or ignored because of a lack of awareness. Therefore, one-half of our organization's activities focuses on raising awareness for human rights, and their abuse, with campaigns such as #stopsnapshare and our "submit" page, where we implore anyone to contribute to the growth and spread of our message by writing articles. We also believe that it is the responsibility of African youth to fight for their human rights and organize and lead the continent to a prosperous, human rights aware, future. Therefore, we use approaches such as our open-source human rights curriculum to impact the maximum amount of youth in schools and education centers throughout the continent. We also invite those interested in starting their own chapters of Africa Rights Rising in their own communities. To best pursue these goals, we dedicate ourselves to propagating respect for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights with passion, driven by a deeply rooted empathy to bring justice and equality to all Africans. There are few human rights organisations that are led by young Africans, help us succeed by being a part of ours.
