Nonprofit Organization Management - Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa
The Afrika Leadership Development Institute (LeadAfrika) is a non-profit (Section 21) organisation which originated as a leadership centre in a major university during 2002. As a multi-university initiative, we draw on staff and centers of excellence from universities. LeadAfrika is focused on Leadership competency and capacity building in civic society, local, provincial and national governance structures. In 2015 we were the implementation partner for the Mandela Washington Fellowship for Southern Africa. We have conducted a number of projects such as a Leadership Development Programme for Parliamentarians and training for Provincial Legislatures in all nine provinces of South Africa, which was then called PALAMA. We have received a golden shield award for the best community development project in Limpopo related to poverty alleviation & sustainable development. We are working closely with the Pan African Parliament & NEPAD on the African Union on related Leadership initiatives. We were involved in the training of Women in Leadership, various community development, and youth development programs, as well as strategic leadership in other parts of Africa.Recently we were the US Embassy's partner in the implementation of the YALI Pretoria TechCamp, the managing, and providing support for the Post TechCamp grants (projects will be implemented in 7 countries in Africa) as well as the Global Innovation Through Science And Technology (GIST) Boot Camp in South Africa.
