Amphidex is a Danish company founded in early 2010 by Aalborg University and NOVI Innovation A/S. The main idea and background behind the company's patent, has been developed by researchers at Aalborg University's Supramolecular Chemistry Group, amongst these Dr. Kim Lambertsen Larsen, from the Cyclodextrin group of the Department of Chemistry at Aalborg University. This cyclodextrin group has researched various areas of cyclodextrin chemistry and applications for more than 10 years. At present, the group consist of two assistant professors, one associate professor, four PhD students, which are directly linked to Amphidex A/S. The work of the group has led to unique applications of the cyclodextrins and numerous publications. One of the applications is this new, patented coating technology with the amphiphilic cyclodextrins which is handled by Amphidex A/S. Another application is the patented technology of creating channel cyclodextrins from native CD's utilizing our own laboratory protocols. The channel cyclodextrins (CCDs) many-fold the uptake of VOC's compared to native cage cyclodextrins and can hence be utilized in numerous new areas where enlarged capacity is desired.
