Architecture & Planning - Poznań, Greater Poland Voivodeship, Poland
Architecture does matter, but only as a profession which is forward looking and as one which tries to find answers to the contemporary challenges. We talk about architecture critically and based in its context. We focus on the society as a whole and on people as individuals. Through our work we discuss what we can and what we should improve in the way we design and realize our new living environment.Atelier Starzak Strebicki - architects and urban planners, a team led by Jola Starzak and Dawid Strębicki. The founding partners, after having followed their studies in the Netherlands and many years of working for architectural studios in Belgium and the Netherlands, have established in 2012 the design studio Atelier Starzak Strebicki in Poznań, Poland. Currently the office is working on projects in fields of furniture design, interiors, architecture, urbanism and research in Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany and Poland. What intrigues us about design processes is the diverse scale of work: from furniture, through houses and interiors, schools and public buildings up to the city planning scale.Currently the team is 10 people strong, with 2 partners, 3 architects and 5 architectural interns coming from countries such as Italy, Poland, Spain and Ukraine. As an office we enjoy to work within a great diversity of cultural contexts, where we always try to look through the eyes of a ‘tourist' towards the new challenges.Since 2011 we're collaborating with School of Form in Poznań, Poland, where currently Jola Starzak holds the position of the Head of the Design Department and where since 2017 we are part of a new Architecture Department. In 2016 our studio got invited to participate in the 15th International Architecture Bienniale in Venice. Our project ‘Kijkgat' was exhibited at the Biennale in the Belgian Pavilion.
