Azienda Vinicola Placido Volpone is an opera born from a promise between Michele Placido and Domenico Volpone. In 1974 Michele was already a famous actor and Domenico was working on the five-generations vineyard. It was summer, and these two families were spending days together in the campagna of Ascoli Satriano, at Masseria Volpone. The two boys made a promise: to make their friendship eternal, uniting the children they would have and the generations to come in a common project, which encloses history, tradition, art and culture of their own be, of their roots ... Placido Volpone is a single family united by the passion for their land and for its most precious fruit: wine.Two families, five generations vineyard, and 3 pillars: - Terroir: hilly and stoned lands in the most sunny, drought and windy region in the continental Italy: north of Apulia region;- Vision: to perform, at its best, the quality offered by Apulia region, unique land of excellence, by leveraging the Nero di Troia grape, true expression of Italian superior quality;- Avant-garde techniques to produce a high superior wine, loyal to the tradition and completely transparent versus the consumer: first Winery in the world to certify the entire supply chain of its wine on the Blockchain (a distributed and unchangeable ledger of information, whose first application was the famous cryptocurrency called Bitcoin, and that instead allows to track the production steps of any type of product, with the goal to guarantee the origin, authenticity and quality of certified products). This is a further proof of the transparency that the Azienda wants to maintain for its customers, certain of the quality of their grapes and the excellence of the winemaking process. The Winery is close to the ancient Roman city Herdonia, today Ordona (FG), that is also called "the Apulian Pompei" since it was a crucial part of the Empire and it still has an unique archeological site.
