In Canada, the costs associated with pollution are not borne by the people responsible. Instead they are paid for through general tax revenues — thus removing any incentive towards efficiency and innovation while dragging down the economy through higher taxes. Without correct price signals in place, market players have no incentive to reduce pollution. There_IS_a solution though: An economic model that rewards entrepreneurship and innovation for environmental improvement. This can be the single most powerful tool to increase prosperity and ensure economic growth for ours and future generations. The solution starts with a polluter responsibility system that charges those that pollute for their pollution - no more, no less - and uses revenues from pollution fees to cut taxes on economic drivers like jobs and income. Canadians for Clean Prosperity's mission is to create the public and political will to support the implementation of polluter responsibility across Canada. We do this by educating Canadians about the economic benefits of polluter responsibility and giving individuals the tools to exercise their power for change.
