City of Halstead Details
The City of Halstead is a community of around 2100 residents located in South Central Kansas just off of US HWY 50 along the banks of the Little Arkansas River. Situated in Harvey County, Halstead is about 10 minutes west of Newton, 25 miles east of Hutchinson, and 25 minutes northwest of Wichita. Halstead is part of the Greater Wichita MSA and has convenient access to US 50, I-135, and K-96 as well as the various airports in Wichita, Newton, and Hutchinson. Halstead has a "true downtown" brick street commercial business district, a 9 hole municipal golf course, swimming pool, multiple parks, and a thriving industrial base. The City of Halstead offers many services not typically found in a city its size, including 24 hour full-time police, fire, and EMS coverage and manages its own gas, water, wastewater, and storm water utilities. Halstead prides itself on being the "Biggest Little City in Kansas" and is a great place to work, play, live, and call home.
