Colorful Dreams assists our uniquely-abled neighbors by offering affordable housing to organizations licensed by the State of New Jersey to operate Group Homes. Colorful Dreams is committed to providing living environments that promote self respect, independence, and improve the residents quality of life. The idea for Colorful Dreams came in 2016 when my grandmother, Mama and my Aunt Kim needed adequate housing and additional care for their disabilities that surpassed what the family alone could provide. For Kim, Mama and many others, a community setting is much more appropriate than an institutionalized setting or nursing home. However, due to the inadequate amount of homes in the state, the waiting list for group homes is in the thousands. At this point, our family came together and purchased a home in Central, NJ. The house had some issues that needed fixing and many alterations were required for it to be safe and appropriate for Mama and Kim. By God's grace, our family was able to give them a loving, personalized and safe space that feels like home. Understanding that many are finding themselves in similar situations, those that love and care for Kim and Mama have established Colorful Dreams. We're dedicated to helping those like our beloved Kim and Mama who are in need of a comfortable place to call home and compassionate and loving care. New Jersey is 38th in the nation in serving those with disabilities, 42nd in promoting independence and 43rd in promoting productivity within the disabled community.
