Underground is a place which can offer a lot to us, but we are unable to exploit it in the right way. It is easier and cheaper to use the surface - for whatever reasons - without thinking that our resources are limited and that we are doing terrible damage in the way as we use them today.This concept is about exploiting the underground in a way that makes this world better, cleaner and friendlier for everybody.You can find a link to a paper below, which describes the concept in detail, but if you want simple explanation, what this concept is all about, is this:"Find as good a piece of rock as you can find and build there something, which is useful and shouldn't be on the surface", like a factory, a transport system, a power plant, a farm for exotic vegetables, a Disney World, whatever you can imagine of. It can be cheaper, and for sure more environmentally sustainable than to do it on surface.Even sky is not a limit for this concept, since might be useful to construct big settlements on other planets too.
