Research - , England, United Kingdom
The Infrastructure Transitions Research Consortium (ITRC) is a team from seven UK universities, investigating ways to improve the performance of infrastructure systems in the UK and globally.ITRC-Mistral is our project to help businesses and policymakers to explore the long-term benefits of investments and policies to improve infrastructure systems as well as the risks of infrastructure failure. Our researchers work closely with partners in the infrastructure industry, investigating infrastructure and its critical interdependencies in energy, digital communications, solid waste, transport, waste water, water supply and infrastructure governance. We are developing; - models that help to pinpoint vulnerabilities and quantify the risks of failure; and- tools to perform ‘what-if' analyses, exploring future uncertainties, e.g. population growth, new technologies and climate change.ITRC-Mistral involves over 50 researchers from the universities of Cardiff, Cambridge, Leeds, Newcastle, Oxford, Southampton and Sussex. We work with national and international organisations, including the UK's National Infrastructure Commission and the United Nations Office for Project Services.
