Developing World Technologies (DWT) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that delivers indigenously supported, life sustaining technologies in culturally relevant ways to individuals in developing countries. DWT works with local NGOs to identify needs, collaborates with universities and manufacturers to design and manufacture products that meet the NGO's requirements, and facilitates the solution transfer through local distribution and holistic training. Founded: The request came from the University of Malawi Bunda College and Total Land Care who were asked by local farmers for a better irrigation pump. The team went through several design iterations and by the end of the course took a trip to Malawi where the prototype was tested. After the trip to Malawi, DWT received a grant from the National Collegiate Inventors and Innovators Alliance for continued pump development and company formation. DWT incorporated as a non-profit in the state of Washington and applied for federal 501(c)3 tax-exempt status.
