The Downtown Providence Parks Conservancy (DPPC) is a public-private partnership formed to preserve and revitalize Providence's historic downtown core by transforming it into a lively, cohesive and prosperous economic and cultural center through the development and management of exceptional public spaces.OUR PROJECTS:REVITALIZING GREATER KENNEDY PLAZAFostering Economic Development in Providence's Downtown NeighborhoodDPPC leads a public-private partnership to transform Kennedy Plaza, which after years of neglect, became unsafe, unclean and unwelcoming. With DPPC catalyzing an influx of investment and community stewardship, the Plaza is becoming rejuvenated, once again set to serve as a vital civic square and destination location for Rhode Island tourism.PUBLIC PROGRAMMING IN THE CITY CENTERProviding Universal Access to Arts, Culture, Education and RecreationMore than just events, DPPC programming brings Providence's downtown public spaces alive and creates a welcoming environment for residents and visitors alike. Kennedy Plaza alone serves thousands of families from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds every day as they commute, work, and play.BUILDING A DOWNTOWN PARKS SYSTEMPromoting Green Space and Public Health in ProvidenceDPPC advocates for the creation of a downtown parks system that will increase the availability of green space in the city. The park system will consist of approximately 54 acres spread over 2 miles. Through Conservancy support, these new spaces will become a positive place for civic engagement and recreation..
