Civic & Social Organization - Tel Aviv-Yafo, , Israel
DUGRI is a social venture that unites young Israelis and Palestinians around a new narrative for a mutually beneficial future. We do 3 things:1. Content - we create new ground-breaking authentic content to echo the voice of the silent majority. "It's impossible to scream MODERATION" - so we found a way to spread it creatively :)2. Education - we deliver educational lectures and workshops to schools, public/private institutions and other organizations, sharing our mutual story and discussing with the audience about the future of Jews and Arabs in the region.3. Community - we build a community of young moderates, a platform for Palestinians/Israelis to learn each others perspectives, to respect the past but focus on the future, and to collaborate for a mutually beneficial future.DUGRI was founded by Uriya Rosenman and Sameh SAZ Zakout, creators of the social project 'Let's Talk Straight' - an artistic video (inspired by Joyner Lucas' I'm Not Racist) that showcases a Jew and an Arab slinging slurs at each other. In June 2018, Uriya independently initiated the project, embarking on a journey to question the narratives he grew up on. He began his research by touring around Israel, meeting Jews and Arabs familiar with the extremes on both sides of the spectrum, in order to transform their words into a blunt rap song.Eventually he had some solid lyrics, but lacked the authenticity of a face-to-face confrontation between a Jew and Arab.In May 2020, Uriya and Sameh met through friends and decided to join forces. After 1 year of mutual work, they released their first video clip, which in light of the Jewish - Arab tensions in May at the time of its release, made the clip go viral, reaching 5 million views on social media and hundreds of millions more through traditional media around the world.
