Girl Up is an innovative campaign of the United Nations Foundation addressing the needs of adolescent girls in developing countries. The "for girls, by girls" model mobilizes American girls to raise awareness and funds for United Nations programs that help some of the world's hardest-to-reach adolescent girls. The Latin word for Gold, the term "Aurum" in modern day interpretations translates to beauty, purity, dearness and preciousness. We, the founders of Girl Up Aurum, believe that every girl is precious, each contributing to global progress and development in her own unique way. We empower, to get empowered because we are the drivers of change, the future leaders, continuously breaking stereotypes around us. Keeping this in mind we named our community "Aurum", to signify strength, charisma and invaluableness.
