Established in 1989, Human Concern International (HCI), a non-profit, non-governmental organization, has been working since on poverty-alleviation, post-conflict rehabilitation, and socio-economic development. As a medium-sized NGO it has been actively involved in numerous countries in the Middle East, South-East Asia, and other regions, in building short and long-term, self-sustainable development projects. Since its foundation, HCI has worked extensively in providing relief and humanitarian assistance aimed at fostering self-reliance and self-directness. HCI-Middle East is a chapter of HCI-Canada, and currently functions in six countries in the region; Sudan, Palestine, Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon, Iraq.
