Originating in NYC Black and Latinx communities during the disco era, Hustle is a partner dance that has long exemplified accessibility, inclusivity, diversity, and the absence of gender roles. Hustle at Robson Square (RS) was founded in 2014 on those same principles and has since grown its dedicated community through yearly cultural events and weekly free dance classes.The purposes of Hustle at RS Dance Society are:• To provide accessible, encouraging, and inclusive Hustle dance classes for all members of the public where normal gender roles are not applied;• To foster connection, create a sense of community, and fight social isolation by organizing cultural events, dance classes, and socials;• To enrich Vancouver's sense of place by activating underutilized public space;• To elevate Vancouver's dance and music culture scene by preserving and evolving Hustle dance as a cultural asset.
