Strong believers in the Youth capacity to inspire and create change.Km1 is a coastal and marine conservation team focused on addressing marine litter while also seeks to empower and involve the next generation of ocean leaders. Through environmental education programs, social innovation workshops and citizen science projects the organization has impacted more than 100,000 youths in 12 Mexican states and Southern California. Their community has intercepted and removed more than 80,000 pounds of marine litter from the Pacific to the Mexican Caribbean.Km1 actively participates with the Government in the development of appropriate and effective public policy. Approach the private sector to good practices and advice on their transition to a circular economy and also serve as consultants on conservation and sustainable development projects with International Organisations.TEDx Speakers, consultants for the Commission for Environmental Cooperation Tijuana River Watershed Marine Litter Project, recipients of SEMARNAT's "Premio al Mérito Ecológico" special mention, and selected by The Economist and Sustainable Ocean Alliance as one the 15 Ocean Youth Leaders worldwide. Their work has resulted in invitations to several International events, such as World Ocean Summit, One Young World Summit, and Our Ocean Conference.Km1 is currently building the Youth's for the Ocean National Network, a structure that will gather coastal, marine and oceanic youth-led projects from across the country and will focus on advancing in research, innovation, capacity building, and public policy.
