PIVOT INTERNATIONAL'S MISSION IS TO IMPROVE THE INDEPENDENCE, MOBILITY AND QUALITY OF LIFE OF PHYSICALLY DISABLED CHILDREN IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES. PIVOT INTERNATIONAL PLEDGES TO PROVIDE ADAPTED EQUIPMENT, ACCESS TO MEDICAL SERVICES AND OTHER SERVICES AS NEEDED.General Objectives:Provide an organizational structure that promotes help and attention to physically disabled children in developing countries.Provide the necessary orthopaedic equipment to improve the children's independence.Prioritize access to basic medical services and timely follow-ups if possible. Offer practical information and basic medical information to parents. Our goal is to provide a positive experience for our Canadian donors and volunteers as well as our Nicaraguan partners and "Pivot Kids." We are working towards making Pivot International as locally sustainable as possible and will eventually be training and hiring local health professionals and program coordinators. The Problem: Children with special needs in developing countries do not have access to the equipment and medical services they need to realize their full potential. Our solution: Give these families the tools and education to ensure their child is able to reach his/her full potential. Provide repeat access to physical therapy services so that motor skills never stop improving! What makes us different?: Most disability-oriented charitable organizations focus on crisis relief and conflict-zone intervention. We thank and encourage our colleagues in their incredible work that is much needed. Pivot International seeks to intervene early-on in a child's life to improve their quality of life for years to come. We work long-term to ensure that our "Pivot Kids" will always be encouraged to push their limits and reach for the stars, no matter what it takes. We are ability-oriented and here to stay wherever we go.
