The Queen Bee Project has two missions: Queen, and Bee.Mission Queen:Joan of Arc. Mother Teresa. Amelia Earhart. Marilyn Monroe. These are some of the first names that come to mind when thinking of inspirational women. But in reality, we don't need to look that far for inspiration. In Sacramento, there are hundreds of women who face the challenge of attempting to thrive in male-dominated fields every day, or meet resistance in various forms on their way to success, and they should serve as an inspiration for all.At the Queen Bee Project, we strive to bring the stories of these women to the youth of Sacramento, in order to motivate young women to pursue their passions, no matter how many obstacles stand in the way of achieving success and rising to the top.Mission Bee:It takes a lot of guts and hours of hard work to compete in any competition, whether it be your classroom spelling bee, or the national geography bee. It also takes a lot of guts and preparation to organize a competition, like a regional brain bee or the national astrophysics olympiad. At the Queen Bee Project, we strive to provide competitors at all levels with study material, sample curriculum for outreach events, and advice on how to mentally prepare for and face competitions. It takes a lot of mental rigor to prepare for academic competitions, and our mentors are here to help you through the process!Additionally, we endeavor to raise awareness and participation of competitions such as the brain bee and the national astrophysics olympiad, which are not as well known as the spelling or geography bees, but are no lesser in terms of competition difficulty and effort to make the competition a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
