Queer Youth Rises is a nonprofit organization focused on educating and preventing discrimination against the 2SLGBTQ+ (2-spirited, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer) community. Queer Youth Rises makes a difference through social media campaigns, online workshops and activities, and providing necessary resources.Queer Youth Rises was founded in March of 2021. Within the span of a few months, they have gathered a team of diverse, well-educated youth from all across the world, all with the same goal of educating others on 2SLGBTQ+ topics. So far, we have 31 members on our team, 40 members of our new Discord server, and 338 followers on our Instagram and those numbers are steadily growing.Queer Youth Rises is a way to raise the voices of the youth. Oftentimes, youth are incapable of expressing their identities in ways they wish, either due to the high risk of bullying or assault, or because of a lack of understanding from family, friends, or caretakers. By giving these youth a voice, they can express themselves, share their thoughts and experiences, and become more independent and self-accepting. By focusing on education and knowledge, we create a trustworthy source of information for otherwise uneducated folks, such as youth questioning their identity, or adults who wish to understand how these topics impact their children, families, friends, and community.
