Samajbandh is a social movement of youth working on menstruation and women's health since 2016. Our focus has been more on rural and tribal areas till now. Today more than half of the women in this country do not use clean absorbent material during menstruation and hence they suffer from harmful diseases. Some women get affected by serious diseases like cervical cancer. The superstitions related to menstruation, the dropout rate of girls from their schools at a young age after menstruation make the situation worse. Hence, Samajbandh works to raise awareness on menstrual health management and to provide women with affordable and easily available menstrual products. Samajbandha's cloth pad manufacturing project I.e. Asha pad is located at Katraj (Pune) and Hemdi (Tal. Pen, Raigad). With more than 100 schools, self-help groups, and villages in Maharashtra, our project 'Pa-Palicha: Jagar Stri Astitvacha' has been successfully conducting sessions that emphasize creating a scientific approach towards menstruation. The women and girls are then trained to make their cloth pads with the use of old clothes in the session for free so that they can make them and use them permanently and maintain good health. This work is carried out with the help of activists and public participation.
