TamBo Foundation is a voice, advocate, and resource repository for African and Afrodiasporic populations dealing with cancer. Our goal is to address the void in cultural and ethnoreligious programs that meet the healthcare needs of Africans and Afrodiasporans around the issues of cancer. We strive to spotlight the 'treatability' of the 6 major cancers prevalent among people of African descent: breast, cervical, ovarian, prostate, colon, and lung.We provide cancer health education and critical support services focused on people of African descent in the United States. We are partnering with institutions, cancer centers, and African civic organizations to engage diverse Afro-descendant communities. According to the US Census Bureau (2014), of the more than 3.6 million foreign-born black people in the US, most were born in either Latin America (58%) or Africa (40%).Our long term goal is to join forces with economic and health advocates on the African continent to push an "African solution to African problems," thereby translating to a winnable war on cancer.Visit our website to learn more.
