The average yearly medical costs after the first year can be $400,000 up to $750,000 depending on the level of injury. Insurance covers very little after hospitalization and nothing towards recovery. Your dollars will help to provide relief for rehabiliatative costs for these individuals.There are approximately 1.2 million people living with spinal cord injuries (SCI) in the United States. Every 48 seconds in our country, a person becomes paralyzed. There are over six million people living with some type of Paralysis caused by Stroke, Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer, Spinal Cord Injury, Transverse Myelitis and other nervous system disorders.The most common spinal cord injuries occur as the result of motor vehicle accidents (47%), sports related injuries, domestic violence and in the elderly, falls.
