Undergraduate Mock Trials Canada was developed in September 2012 by a non-profit organization known as C.L.A.U.S.E. (or Creating Legal AcUity in Student Environments). Its founder, Parth Khanna, aspired to fill the legal void that was present in the Canadian education system at the undergraduate level. Four years later, UGMT has grown into a much anticipated annual competition having to have doubled in size. UGMT receives over 100 applicants from the University of Waterloo alone, and is currently expanding to other universities across Ontario.
