AMMF is the UK's only cholangiocarcinoma charity and was set up to raise the awareness of cholangiocarcinoma, to provide information to those who need it, and to support specialised research teams in their work to find the causes, methods of earlier diagnosis and treatments for this disease. Cholangiocarcinoma is considered a rare cancer, but recently an enormous and extremely worrying worldwide increase in its incidence has been flagged. In the UK alone, latest figures (CRUK 2009) show more than 1800 people are diagnosed with this disease each year. Fewer than 5% will survive one year from that diagnosis.
