Design for sustainable behaviours is an evolving field of design research and practice, which is emerging ever-more strongly as we expand our thinking beyond ‘net zero' to a vision of a thriving future. As recommended by the most recent IPCC report, it shifts our focus from technical solutions to sustainable lifestyles and behaviours. It seeks to identify how people can live a sustainable everyday life, then create the pre-conditions for that sustainable everyday life through design. Considering regenerative design, community cohesion, and inclusive economies, our research supports designers, planners and decision-makers to set the scene for sustainable behaviours through their projects, building nature, capability and community into everyday environments that everyone can enjoy.Signature Project: Bridge to BelongingBridge to Belonging is an analysis tool for city-makers to ramp up climate action by simultaneously reducing urban deprivation. Our research method reveals what's needed for local communities to live sustainably – whether it's increased nature, cleaner air, social cohesion, or safe spaces for cooking, growing, learning or exercise – and builds it into every project proposal. This offers a systematic way for city-makers to build in lasting and meaningful local impact, place by place.-"A special talent for looking at projects delivering solutions that satisfy the requirements from all stakeholder perspectives, are truly relevant and have undeniable integrity."-"Mette gave the perfect balance of imagination, sensitivity and practicality.
